Hair and Beauty Salon
Downtown Salt Lake City, UT

Array Salon is a full-service salon located in downtown Salt Lake City, owned by Bryan Raybould. After running the business with a partner for 11 years, Bryan branched out on his own and needed a rebrand that felt authentic to him. While retaining the salon’s name and iconic brick signage, Bryan wanted to modernize the brand and make it truly his own. Array Salon partners with top haircare brands like RedKen and Surface, providing a chill, welcoming atmosphere for its clients. It’s a space where everyone—especially LGBTQIA+ individuals—can feel at home.

the challenge

Bryan came to me after separating from his business partner of 11 years, ready to take full ownership of his salon’s identity. The existing branding felt outdated and didn’t align with the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere he envisioned. He wanted to maintain continuity with the past while infusing the brand with a modern, personal touch that reflected his vision.

The brand also needed to stand apart in an industry often known for pretense. Bryan was determined to create a space where clients could feel completely at ease—a salon that exuded professionalism without losing its chill, approachable vibe. It was a place for everyone, with a particular focus on welcoming LGBTQIA+ clients, where people could show up as their authentic selves.

When Bryan first approached Paper Panther Studio, he wasn’t just looking for a new logo—he was ready to create a brand that reflected his values, his vision, and his future. Today, Array Salon isn't just another hair salon. It's a space where people feel welcome, seen, and genuinely excited to return.

At Paper Panther Studio, we believe the best brands are built to evolve—and we’re proud to continue supporting Bryan as Array Salon grows into its next chapter.

BUILDING A BRAND THAT GROWS WITH YOU

The Goal

the challenge

He wasn’t just refreshing a salon—he was redefining a space where everyone can feel at home, no matter who they are.

A fresh start without losing the heart.

Bryan’s goal was to create a rebrand that felt like a natural evolution of the salon’s existing identity, not a drastic departure. We kept familiar elements, like a version of the classic serif font on the signage, while introducing modern updates. The “fire engine” red became a more mellow tone, paired with complementary colors that evoked calm and coolness. The typography shifted to a modern all-caps style, blending sophistication with approachability.

The branding also needed to reflect the salon’s updated interior—a bright, clean aesthetic with organic materials like wood, steel, and plants. Together, the physical space and brand identity needed to communicate one key message: We take hair seriously—not ourselves.

the solution

From street presence to brand personality, every detail was designed to turn heads and build trust.

We launched Bryan’s rebrand with the CLAWS OUT! Branding Identity Package, delivering everything he needed to transform Array Salon into a modern, welcoming space.

The deliverables included:

  • A refreshed logo and cohesive color palette
  • Branded assets that emphasized approachability and professionalism
  • Custom signage and hand-painted window art, designed and installed by me, that made the salon stand out on the bustling streets of downtown Salt Lake City

The rebrand came together beautifully, capturing the warmth and inclusivity of the salon while maintaining a modern edge. Two years later, we’re continuing to elevate the brand with a custom website that will bring Bryan’s vision to life in the digital space.

the results

Elevated client experience, engagement, and street presence for a thriving salon.

The updated branding for Array Salon immediately brought new energy to Bryan's business. The refreshed logo, modern color palette, and eye-catching window signage created a cohesive, elevated presence—both inside the salon and on the busy downtown streets of Salt Lake City.

Clients instantly noticed the difference. The approachable, laid-back vibe Bryan envisioned now shines through every touchpoint, helping Array stand apart from typical high-pressure salons.

The rebrand also laid the foundation for a digital expansion: two years later, we launched Array’s first custom website, bringing the brand’s welcoming, stylish energy online. With a strong brand identity and an intuitive website experience, Array Salon is better positioned than ever to attract new clients, support growing stylists, and continue thriving downtown.

client overview

When Brenda Daly approached me, she was preparing to publish her memoir "I Got Up" —a raw and powerful memoir about losing her son, Kevin, to the complications of a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and addiction. As a grief educator, speaker, author, and former LCSW, Brenda’s mission was to break the stigma surrounding these often misunderstood deaths. She didn’t just need a website; she needed an identity that reflected her story of grief, resilience, and hope. Brenda is a voice in the women’s memoir space, and she was ready to amplify that voice—but she didn’t know where to start.

Brenda came to me thinking she simply needed a website as a place where people could click a link and buy her book. But as we talked, it became clear: she didn’t realize the power a strong brand could have in connecting her to her audience. She wasn’t just selling a book—she was building a community, starting conversations about grief, and offering her story as a lifeline to others.

The tricky part? We needed to to strike a balance between looking professional and staying approachable, warm but not overly positive. She didn’t want her brand to feel overly happy or optimistic, because that’s not the reality of grief. She isn’t about silver linings or forcing a smile. This is not the real work of healing and honoring grief. At the same time, she didn’t want to seem overly dark or unapproachable. The tone needed to reflect her truth: grief is messy, but there is also resilience and hope.

the challenge

She isn’t just selling a book — she is building a community, starting vital conversations about grief, and offering her story as a lifeline to others.

The Goal

she needed a cohesive brand that would extend far beyond the book—a brand that reflected her as an author, speaker, and grief educator.

Brenda’s initial goal was simple: create a resource to support the launch of her memoir. But as we dug deeper, she realized she needed a cohesive brand that would extend far beyond the book—a brand that reflected her as an author, speaker, and grief educator.

Our mission became clear: build a brand that honors her son, Kevin, and tells her story of loss and strength, all while making her approachable and professional. We wanted to help Brenda create assets that would allow her to show up fully, whether online or in person. This meant designing a website, business cards, a book cover, slide decks, and more—each piece a reflection of her personal brand identity.

The SOLUTION

We didn’t just create a website or slap together a book cover. We built an entire identity that captures the rawness and depth of her journey.

This is where the real magic happens. We didn’t just create a website or slap together a book cover. We built an entire identity that captures the rawness and depth of Brenda’s journey.

Using the Paper Panther Brand Coaching Method, we started by developing her brand identity. We created a color palette that felt warm and comforting—never too bright or happy, but never too dark either. The custom marks and illustrations told her story visually, with birds and flowers symbolizing her connection to Kevin, joined at the root. These aren’t just pretty designs; they are deeply personal, representing the raw, unfiltered nature of grief.

Her book cover became a powerful symbol of resilience. Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, we used the image of a broken bowl, with golden seams that represented Brenda’s healing. But instead of just a broken bowl, we filled it with pieces of her life: a photo of her and Kevin, his baby shoes, flowers from a moment when she could "see in color" again, and a winding road symbolizing the journey of grief. The turquoise color that speaks to Brenda, is highlighted to show the resilience that is also a part of the story of possibility in life. It isn’t just a cover—it is a visual narrative that makes readers stop, look, and feel connected to Brenda’s story.

The results

Brenda went from feeling unsure and anxious about her brand to standing confidently as an expert in her field.

The transformation was incredible. Brenda went from feeling unsure and anxious about her brand to standing confidently as an expert in her field. Her book cover? A conversation starter. One of the best compliments she received was that someone picked her book off the shelf purely because the cover drew them in.

Now, with a cohesive brand identity that flows from her website to her in-person engagements, Brenda is recognized as a professional grief educator and author. Her audience sees her as approachable and real, someone who doesn’t sugarcoat the realities of loss, but who also shows that there is life after grief.

client testimonial

If you're on the fence about working with Genevieve, you can trust her completely—she's amazing at what she does.

"I love everything about my new branding and website, but the Kintsugi bowl on my book cover is definitely my favorite. It elevated the book by creating a cover that truly draws people in and makes them want to read the story. Before working with Gen, I had no idea how to create a webpage or develop branding, and that made me nervous. But as soon as I met her, I knew I was in good hands. Her confidence reassured me, and she took all that stress off my plate.

Now, my business looks professional but still inviting, which has had a huge impact. I’m incredibly pleased with the entire project—my book cover, website, and brand identity. One of the best compliments I’ve received was when someone told me the cover was so good that just looking at it made them want to read the book!

Working with Gen was such a joy. She’s creative, thoughtful, and truly listened to everything I shared. She took my ideas and transformed them into something amazing. If you're on the fence about working with her, you can trust her completely—she's amazing at what she does."
