Boudoir Photography
Salt Lake City, UT

When photographer Brie first approached me, she was ready for a change. After years of operating as Brianna Danielle Photo, she found herself competing with numerous similarly-named photographers and feeling constrained by her personal brand name. Like many business owners, she initially thought she "just needed a logo." But through our work together, she discovered that a logo alone wouldn't solve her brand challenges or support her business goals.

What makes Brie's work special is her ability to capture intimate moments in both studio settings and natural environments, particularly in Utah's breathtaking landscapes. She's built her reputation on creating empowering spaces for clients to celebrate themselves exactly as they are, whether that's in an intimate in-home session or among the dramatic red rock formations of Utah's famous national parks.

the challenge

Moving beyond "Brianna Danielle Photo" wasn't just about a name change – it represented a deeper shift in how Brie wanted to show up for her clients. Her previous branding experience had left her frustrated because it wasn't comprehensive: "I loved my name but the icon was separate, and so hard to see. I was promised brand guidelines and a color palette, etc. but never delivered. I had no brand identity."

While she had built a strong reputation under her own name, she was ready to create something bigger: a brand that would focus entirely on her clients' self-love journeys rather than her identity as the photographer. She needed more than just a pretty design – she needed a strategic partner who would understand her vision and help bring it to life.

Through our discovery process, what started as "just needing a logo" evolved into understanding the need for a complete brand system that could:

  • Stand out in a crowded photography market
  • Work seamlessly across all applications, especially at smaller sizes
  • Support consistent content creation for social media
  • Feel both professional and personally meaningful
  • Give her the tools to maintain her brand independently

client TESTIMONIAL

working with a professional for my brand's identity has created more brand awareness and brand equity.

"I am one of those people who needs accountability and some sort of motivation to reach my goals. Working with Genevieve has been an amazing accountability buddy for me as I’ve been working on my business rebrand. Making the investment in her services and being able to delegate the important task of the brand design was a huge weight off of my shoulders. Being able to trust her to deliver something that I knew would be beautiful and functional gave me such peace of mind, and allowed me to focus on the tasks that only I can complete.

I was incredibly impressed with the elements that were delivered, but I was also so impressed with how thoughtful she was to include not only multiple elements for differing needs, but the brand guide really pulled everything together and is something that I will be able to reference as I create content and maintain my website."

the challenge

How do you transition from a personal photography brand to one that puts the client experience at the center?

the solution

Professional doesn't mean boring: giving Brie the perfect mix of playful and polished to market her business confidently

From social media to client experience, a strategic brand system enhances how Brie shows up in her business.

the results

"I felt like you would make me look cool. And you did." Brie's simple statement captures the trust and results that define our work together. The new identity has given her the confidence and tools to create consistent, professional content without anxiety. Having a comprehensive brand guide has not only streamlined her content creation process but provided the accountability and structure she communicated that she needed to move her business forward.

Most importantly, the brand has helped position Opal Hour Photo as something truly unique in the photography space. The thoughtful combination of desert inspiration and intimate portraiture, professional polish and personal warmth, has resonated deeply with clients and fellow business owners alike. One direct measure of success? A bold interior designer booked branding services after seeing Brie's transformation – proving that strong branding resonates across industries.

We set out to develop an identity that would:

  • Establish a unique presence that couldn't be confused with other photographers
  • Reflect Brie's love of both intimate portraiture and desert landscapes
  • Provide a complete toolkit for consistent content creation
  • Balance professional polish with authentic personality
  • Support her mission of celebrating clients at every stage of their journey
  • Work for different use cases and at both small and large sizes
While Brie initially envisioned an intricate desert scene for her logo, our strategic discussions led us to a different approach: a custom hand-lettered logo (meaning the letters were drawn by hand instead of utilizing a font that can be easily duplicated) that would be both timeless and versatile. She especially appreciated that this wasn't just another font from Pinterest – it was unique artwork that couldn't be easily copied or stolen. "That's the main part of it, it feels like security," she explained. "Some protection for what I'm spending money, time, and energy on."

The desert elements she originally imagined weren't lost, but rather found their perfect place as supporting brand elements, including custom illustrations that could be used across her marketing materials. The visual system draws inspiration directly from her work, with a color palette born from her favorite desert shoots: her signature pink paired with Moab-inspired orange, serene greens, and deep blues that mirror the landscapes she loves.

When asked why she chose to work with me, Brie emphasized the human connection: "You were friendly, kind, and genuinely cared." This wasn't JUST about creating beautiful design – it was about understanding her vision and helping her bring it to life.

"I didn't fully understand branding before working with Genevieve. You can translate all of this [all things branding, business goals, etc] with message and visuals, and it makes it so much more sense for creating content for social media. It's so nice because you get a guide to use "this color", "this font", etc, and it makes it so much easier to create content knowing how to use each piece: "this" is the header, "this" is the subtitle, etc."
